Abstract

Vacuum tubes.-A sealing-tube for the leads of an electrode of a thermionic valve, such as a filament, is secured to a re-entrant portion of the bulb, and extends beyond the contour of the bulb, so as to permit of replacement of the electrode, and to provide a long leakage surface between the electrodes. As shown in Fig. 6, the sealing-tube 50 for the lead 53 is secured to a re-entrant portion 51, which is surrounded by a metal band 55 carrying the supporting-arms 54 of a grid or anode. In another arrangement, Fig. 1, the sealing-tube 11 is secured to another tube 8, which is sealed to a re-entrant part 4. The end of a hooked spring support 19 for the filament is bound around the neck of a tube 16 mounted in a similar way in a tube 9 at the other end of the bulb. The grid and anode supporting-arms 32, 41 are secured to metal cylinders 33, 42 fitting tightly in the tubes 8, 9.
