Locking nuts.- A ring or washer engaging a bolt or the like has apertures adapted to be engaged by a setscrew carried by the nut. The invention is described in connection with a nut applied to the sleeve of a ball or roller bearing. A ring 5 with teeth or holes is loosely mounted in a recess in the nut 3 and has a lug 7 engaging a slot 2 in the bearing sleeve 1. A set-screw 9 carried by the nut engages one of the apertures in the ring 5 to lock the nut in position. Preferably the end 10 of the set-screw is conical and is of larger diameter than the core of the screw so that it cannot become detached, the perforation in the nut being suitably enlarged at 11 to receive this end.
