Abstract

Bolting; nuts.-In order to permit the removal of a bolt from the work without entire withdrawal of the nut, the hole 4 in the work is made of larger diameter than the shank of the bolt 3 and is open to the outside bv a slot 5 of sufficient width to allow the lateral insertion or removal of the bolt, the slot increasing in width from the hole to the outside of the work. The nut 8 is provided with a sleeve 7 adapted to fit the hole 4 so that when the nut is tightened the bolt cannot be removed. The slot 5 and the hollow of the sleeve 7 may be tapered. A stud provided with a nut at each end may be used in place of a headed bolt.
