Abstract

1,202,475. Bolt hole bushes. HI-SHEAR CORP. 1 Aug., 1968, No. 36727/68. Heading F2H. A stud assembly for installation in a threaded hole 57 in a workpiece 58 comprises on externally threaded tubular sleeve 55 having a tapered bore 59 and a bolt 41. The sleeve is screwed into the workpiece by a tool which engages notches 60 in the end of the sleeve. A sleeve 50 having a tapered surface 52 is then forced down into the bore 59 to clamp the bolt in the workpiece. The sleeves are placed on the shank of the bolt before the thread 43 is formed, the crest diameter of the threads being greater than the diameter of the bore in the sleeve 50 so that the sleeves cannot slide off the shank.
