Abstract
155,063. Atchison, R. Sept. 29, 1919. Screw motors; rotors; casings; regulating.- The rotor and stator are formed with hub portions which together form a body of stream-line shape. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the rotor E<1> is mounted within a shell A and between two stationary hub portions B<1>, B<3> ; the part B<1> being formed with guide blades E. The whole is supported below a floating paltform D which is anchored in a stream of water. The power may be taken off by the shaft H or by a flexible shaft coupled to the rotor spindle. There may be more than one rotor alternating with stator parts having guide blades. Or the parts E, E<1>, may be arranged as oppositely-running rotors driving a single shaft through opposed bevel-gears. The motors may be arranged without the enveloping shell A. Several motors may be supported below one floating platform and be arranged to driveon to a single shaft H<3>, Fig. 11. Each crossshaft H<2> is carried in a frame pivoted about the shaft H<3> so that the shafts H<2> can be lifted out of gear with the shafts H. A centrifugal governor may be used to control a series of flap valves in front of the shell A, or to turn the motor bodily more or less out of the stream-line.
