Screw motors; driving and transmission mechanism, regulating.-The blades of hydraulic turbines for utilizing the current of a river &c. are carried by conical rotors 1, which have curved generating-lines and are immersed at the required depth by a pivoted carrier frame 10. The turbine may drive dynamos 7 &c. through gearing 3, 4, 6. Two or more rotors 1 may be placed side by side across the stream, and with weak currents the shafts of the rotors may be coupled by universal joints to the shafts of additional rotors carried by floats or posts lower down stream.
