Abstract

192,396. Suess, E. Jan. 29, 1922, [Convention date]. Screw motors.-A water-current turbine comprises a casing 1 adapted to be submerged and of increasing cross-section in the direction of flow. The casing is rigidly secured to a float 3 and anchored at 4. One or more rotor wheels, mounted in the narrow part of the casing, transmit power to a vertical shaft 8 through the shaft 5 and bevel gearing 7. The wide end of the casing may have lateral openings or these may be provided in a tube detachably mounted on the casing. A suitable conical inlet funnel may be provided. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 4800/06, [Class 10, Animal-power engines &c.], and 21208/09.
