Abstract

603,966. Water turbines. JENSEN, S. E. J. M. Nov. 19, 1945, No. 31028. [Class 110 (iii)] A current motor carried by a mooredfloating structure 2 comprises three axialflow turbine wheels 5 fixed on a shaft 6 which is geared to a shaft 23 from which an electric generator 17 is driven by a belt. The turbine blades are fixed to outer rings 10 and central cones 11. The flow between the wheels is guided by fixed helical vanes 12. Brakes may be applied to the periphery of the rings 10. In place of a floating structure, the turbine may be mounted on a beam pivoted on the bank of a stream or tide-way.
