Abstract

Hoods.-A collapsible hood for a cliar-a-bane or other vehicle is carried on frames consisting of principal members A pivoted at the sides or end of the vehicle as required and linkages of the lazy-tongs type on each side of the principal. One member of each lazy-tongs linkage is pivoted to the principal at H, and another is pivoted to a slide L on the principal. The slide L is connected by a link M to a fixed point N on the body of the vehicle, so that when the hood is lowered to one side it also collapses, as shown in Fig. 2. Springs may be provided which assist in raising the piece L expanding the hood. The hood is supported by members connecting the two principals and other members R may be provided which are pivoted to the ridge member and turned to lie along it before lowering the hood. Reference, has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 15785/11 and 5477/13.
