Abstract

1531083 Valves G LAFON 9 Feb 1976 [13 Feb 1975] 05034/76 Heading F2V A float 28, Fig. 1, operates a valve plate 7 Fig. 2, through a rotatable member (e.g. float, rod and lever 28, 35, 27) and a valve lever 16 attached to a pivot spindle 5 of the valve plate, the valve lever being pivoted by a follower 37, which is comprised in the rotatable member, the follower acting on an auxiliary lever 21. Lever 16 is raised by the float with rising liquid level until the valve plate is brought into the flow path and thereby abruptly brought to a part-closed position where a pin 19 engages the profile 32 of a cam 29. The abrupt movement causes a weight 22 to pivot the lever 21 so that follower 37 subsequently bears on outer profile 30 of the cam to pivot it about a pin 26 whereby pin 19 engages the cam profile 33 and the valve plate is made free to close. A valve, Fig. 4 (not shown), may be located upstream of the valve plate and be closed by the pressure wave from the closure thereof acting on a diaphragm (45). The valve plate 7 returns to its open position to drain the supply hose (42).
