Abstract
594,011. Diaphragm valves. CRISP, A. E. Feb. 3, 1945, No. 2744. [Class 135] A valve, e.g. for controlling the flow of water into a cistern, comprises a housing in which a diaphragm 8, Fig. 5, having a seating face 5 thereon, is adapted to close on a seat 7 when the, ball 3 is pressed on the diaphragm by the float arm 1. Fig. 1 shows a tap in which the diaphragm 24 is pressed on a seat 25 by a screwed-spindle 21 acting through the ball 23. The seats may be of ebonite, vulcanite or stainless steel and may be flat, concave or convex.
