982,160. Valves. H. VAILLANT, [trading as JOH VAILLANT K.G.]. Nov. 5, 1962 [Nov. 10, 1961; March 31, 1962], No. 41791/62. Heading F2V. A moving closure member 5, Fig. 2, which is urged to its seat by a spring 4 and the inlet water pressure, is opened by a stem 13 through a " click-stop " device. The stem 13 which abuts the member 5 embodies a cylindrical head 13<SP>1</SP> rotatably supported in an element 11 which is axially slidable but prevented from rotation by a fork 25 engaging a pin 26. A stud 14 on the stem 13 is disposed between two body parts 18, 18<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, the opposed faces of which have cam surfaces. The element is pushed to open the valve and the stud 14 leaves a point 15 on part 18, traverses an edge 17 and moves along an edge 19 of part 18<SP>1</SP> at the point 20 of which it is urged by the spring 4 to a point 22 of part 18. Subsequent pushing on the element 11 causes the stud 14 to follow a similar path and finish at a point 23 on part 18 wherein the valve is closed. Such movement of the valve is accompanied by rotation of the stem 13 which through a cutout portion of the element 11 and pair of marks on the head 13<SP>1</SP> enables the valve position to be determined. If the indicator is located away from the element 11 it is driven by gearing from the stem 13. Two such valves may be used with a water heater for supplying cold water thereto and removing hot water therefrom.
