A faucet, for a water sterilizing boiler, comprises a body 1 having a valve seat co-operating with a closure member 4 slidable with lostmotion relative to a spindle 5 which is urged by a spring 10 abutting a body part 7 into contact with an actuating assembly, which assembly comprises a cover 12 slidable coaxially with the stem 5 on the body part 7 and a handle 13 connected to a liner formed with a skirt 17 rotatable relative to the cover by means of rollers 16 and pivot bearing 15. To close the faucet the handle 13 is pushed in so that a pin 19 in the skirt moves along the long arm of an L-shaped groove 20 in the body and is then rotated along the short arm so that the valve is held closed, when sterilizing steam fed from the boiler through a pipe 27 to a bellows 25 acts on a pivoted lever 21 to lock the pin 19 in the short arm of the L- shaped groove to prevent the actuation of the valve until the sterilizing cycle is complete and through a pipe 28 to a port 30 within the valve body where it circulates around the valve members and outlet spout 8 and finally drains through a union 32 to a steam tap, the cover 12 seating at 33 preventing unwanted escaping steam. The mounting of the valve member on the stem 5 with lost motion enables the cover 12 to be made to clear the spout 8 without spoiling the starting or stopping of the flow therefrom.
