631,978. Mixing valves. DELOYE, J. L. June 9, 1947, No. 15126. Convention date, July 30, 1946. [Class 135] A mixing faucet, e.g. for hot and cold water, of the type wherein a valve having a stem 10, a disc 6 and a body 5 is adapted for rotary and axial movement, is characterized by the combination of a manually-actuated toggle mechanism for operating the valve. The valve rotates and slides axially in a pot 2 and comprises a semi-cylindrical portion 5a and a cylindrical portion 5b controlling two opposite inlets, one of which, 3a, is shown. On turning the knob 20 the screw 19, having two oppositely threaded portions, moves the slides 17, 18 apart and through the toggle-links 16 lifts the disc 6 from its seat 7 and brings the portion 5a on a level with the inlets. The toggle mechanism is enclosed in a box 13 able to rotate about a vertical axis by means of the flange 13b engaging under the shoulder 12b on the faucet casing, so that by moving the knob 20 in a horizontal circle, the portion 5a varies the opening of the inlets. In a modification, the spout 9 is bifurcated and has a cock controlling the discharge to either a shower or a spout.
