Abstract

1339976 Valves CHADBURNS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT) Ltd 4 April 1972 [8 April 1971] 9106/71 Heading F2V [Also in Division G3] In a beer dispensing tap a tapered end 17 of a fixed plug 11 projects into a tapered bore 15 of an adjustable sleeve 14 to define a throttling passage 18 between an inlet 19 and an outlet 12. The sleeve 14 is screwed into the body 10 and is adjusted by a rotary knurled ring 20 engaging by means of flats the end 25 of the sleeve. Flow control is by a closure member 27 having a seal 28 thereon and axially movable into and out of bore 26 by a handle-operated cam 32 pivoted to the valve stem 29 at 31. An adjustable screw stop 34 which engages the end of the stem 29 gives a limited valve opening when the handle is moved in direction B compared to that on movement in direction A. The width of passage 18 may progressively increase in the direction of flow.
