Abstract

1281982 Valves H KLASSEN 23 Jan 1970 3420/70 Heading F2V A gate valve in a hydrant comprises a closure member 27 with a bleed passageway 33 or 33a to allow liquid to bleed into the valve upper housing when the valve is closed to indicate the valve position and also that there is liquid in the pipe-line. The valve is actuated by a rotary spindle 24 and a nut 26. The spindle 24 is coupled to a spindle 11 of a hydrant stop valve 13 having an axially movable nut carried by a sleeve 10, and when the spindles 11, 24 are rotated the valve 13 is moved to a closed position, whilst the valve 27 is opened and vice versa. The casing 8 has a hydrant socket outlet 29. A drain port 31 is controlled by a seal 30 on the valve 14.
