Abstract

1328126 Valves C H CHRONISTER 2 March 1972 [4 Dec 1970] 57616/70 Heading F2V A valve 10 in which a gate 18 can be worked on without interrupting the flow through the valve, comprises a housing 12, a co-axial conduits 14 and 16 separated by a space 28, and a slidable connecting sleeve 20 pivotally connected by an arm 44 to the valve gate 18. As the gate is moved downwards to close the conduit 14, the sleeve 20 is initially moved to the right to uncover the space 28, but, as the gate approaches its fully closed position, it is pulled to the left to seal against the rear surface of the gate. Inclined surfaces 66 and 70 on the gate co-operate with inclined surfaces 64 and 68 on the housing to urge the gate tightly against the end surface of the conduit 14. Seals 42 and 62 are provided either on the gate or on the ends of the conduit 14 and sleeve 20.
