Abstract

1,272,444. Valves. COMPRESSION JOINTS Ltd. 14 Aug., 1970 [15 Aug., 1969], No. 40815/69. Heading F2V. In a multiway valve for central heating systems, a plug 19, which is in threaded connection with the housing 11, is rotatable by a knob 29 having a stem 31 axially movable but rotatablyfixed relative to the plug in order to move the seal 21 relative to seat 17 and control flow from pipe 15 to pipe 16. A stop 38 which is adjustably threaded in stem 31 acts to limit the fully-open position of the plug 19. Flow from pipe 15 to pipe 12 is controlled by a plug 25 which is threaded in plug 19 and, when the knob 29 and stem 31 are removed from the housing, may be rotated by a screwdriver to abut seat 18. The knob 29 and stem 31 may be dispensed with if the plug 19 is to be infrequently actuated. The housing end is then closed by a plug which can be removed to allow actuation of plug 19 by a key inserted in bore 32.
