Abstract
1527348 Making Al-Fe wire SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 July 1977 [10 Aug 1976 (4) 25 Nov 1976] 31823/77 Heading C7A Al containing 1-2% Fe, optionally one or more of Ca(0À005-0À5%), Bi(0À001-0À2%) or Sb(0À01- 0À5%) and up to 0À07% Si is cast into an ingot, heated at 500-630‹C for ¢-48 hours and, before or after heating, hot-worked into a wire rod. A further heating at 300-450‹C may follow the first, within the same time range, during which hot-rolling to a wire rod may take place. Heating is said to coarsen as-cast precipitates and precipitate Fe in solid solution. The rod may be cold-worked 90% or more than annealed at 150-600‹C or 0À5 sec. to 10 hours.
