Abstract

1,244,439. Heat-treating silicon steel. AUGUST THYSSEN-HUETTE A.G. May 30, 1969 [June 18, 1968], No.27389/69. Heading C7A. Silicon steel sheet having an easy magnetic direction in the direction of rolling is produced by heating a continuously cast block in a tunnel furnace to 1250‹-1300‹ C., hot rolling, cold rolling and subjecting it to a final anneal, there being additionally included prior to hot rolling a heating at 1350‹-1400‹ C., the heating being effected by internal passage of electric current i.e. by induction or direct resistance heating. The electric heating step may precede or follow heating in the tunnel furnace.
