Abstract
1495758 Electrical steel sheet: heat treatment ARMCO STEEL CORP 10 Dec 1974 53314/74 Heading C7A Carbon steel sheet for magnetic applications contains in wt. per cent C -0À1 Mn 0À05-1 S -0À02 Si 0À05-0À6 N -0À008 O -0À02 P -0À15 Fe balance and is characterized by a core loss of 4 watts/lb. in the semi-processed condition (requiring final anneal) or 4À5 watts/lb. in the fully processed condition, these values each being obtained at a thickness of 0À025 inch under conditions of 15 K gauss and 60 Hertz. The steel is processed by forming a bath of the desired composition, possibly with the use of vacuum decarburization to reduce carbon and/or oxygen to the desired levels, adding Mn, P and/or Si, casting, hot rolling, cold rolling and annealing, the carbon being reduced at some stage in the sequence.
