Abstract
A cold-rolled rimmed steel sheet or strip, with non-ageing properties and deep drawability, contains: <TABS:1057124/C6-C7/1> the remainder being Fe and impurities. The steel is produced by adding P and at least one of Sb, Bi, Nb and Pb to molten steel containing: .C.0.02 to 0.15%, .Mn.0.15 to 0.6%, .P.less than 0.01%, conventionally hot and cold rolling the resulting rimmed steel, and decarburizing and denitriding annealing e.g. at between 500 and 750 DEG C. the sheet or strip in an atmosphere e.g. moist hydrogen with or without nitrogen, which decreases the C and N contents to the desired final values. The rimmed steel may be prepared by adding Fe-P, Fe-Mn and metallic Sb or Pb to conventional open-hearth or electric furnace or converter steel.
