Abstract
1443466 Heat-treated steel sheet for press forming NIPPON STEEL CORP 26 Sept 1973 [26 Sept 1972 (2)] 45019/73 Heading C7A [Also in Division B3] Steel sheet containing a maximum of 0.1% carbon and 0.3% manganese, normal steel making additives and unavoidable impurities in which the Mn, S, 02 and N2 contents satisfy the equation:- 0.002 N (ppm) - 0.003 # K # 0.17 + 0.002 N (ppm) wherein K = Mn (wt %) -<SP>55</SP>/ 32 S (wt %) -<SP>55</SP>/ 16 02 (wt %) is produced by hot-rolling the steel sheet, coiling at a temperature between 600‹C and [850-2.1 x 10<SP>3</SP>C (wt. %)] ‹C, cold-rolling the sheet, continuously annealing the sheet between 650‹C and [1680 - (4.6 x 10<SP>3</SP>) C wt % - the hot coiling temperature ‹C] ‹C for from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, rapidly cooling the sheet e.g. at 5 to 30‹C per second and then averaging the sheet e.g. at a starting temperature of 500 C cooling either continuously or in steps to a finishing temperature of 200‹C in 2 to 10 minutes. The averaged sheet may be subsequently rapidly cooled to 40‹C and temper rolled with a 1% to 1.5% reduction and used in press forming applications e.g. car bodies. The steel sheet may contain in addition to the specified carbon and manganese contents:- S 0 to 0.015% by weight P 0 to 0.014% Si 0 to 0.01% 0 2 0 to 0.052% N20 to < 25 p.p.m.
