Abstract
1404388 Making sheets NIPPON STEEL CORP 10 July 1973 [10 July 1972] 32713/73 Heading B3A [Also in Division C7] Silicon steel containing acid-soluble Al is hot rolled, continuously annealed at 950- 1200‹ C. and cooled rapidly while aluminium nitride precipitates. It is then subjected to one or two cold rolling stages, the one stage or final stage giving a reduction of 81-95% and subjected to final annealing while coated with a separator incorporating Sb in elemental or compound form. Preferably the antimony content of the separator is 0À1-15% by wt., added as oxide, silicate or hydroxide the separator being based on MgO n or Al 2 O 3 . A preferred steel composition includes C 0À025- 0À085%, Si 2-4, and Al 0À01-0À065% and the final anneal may be at 1200‹ C. for 20 hours, possibly preceded by decarburization.
