Abstract

1403271 Making silicon steel sheet ARMCO STEEL CORP 31 Oct 1972 [4 Nov 1971] 50120/72 Headings B3V and B3A [Also in Division C7] Silicon steel sheet having a cube-on-edge texture and containing 2 to 4% Si is produced by casting a slab of 10 to 30 cm. thickness, hot reducing it at 750‹ to 1250‹ C. to achieve a 5 to 50% thickness reduction, and reheating to 1260-1400‹ C. to produce a gram size not greater than ASTM 4À5. The steel is then hotrolled, cold-rolled in at least one stage, decarbonized and finally recrystallization annealed The initial hot reduction may be carried out using the residual heat from casting, while the cold-rolling may be effected in two stages separated by an intermediate anneal.
