Abstract

A corrosion resistant drawable steel sheet having the composition:- C less than 0.01%, Si less than 0.08%, Mn 0.2 to 0.6%, P 0.04 to 0.12%, Cu 0.2 to 0.6%, As 0.03 to 0.5%, one or more of Ti, Zr, Nb each 0.005 to 0.05%, with Fe and impurities as balance, is produced by hot and cold rolling an ingot of the above composition but with C less than 0.1% to form a cold rolled coil, annealing the coil e.g. at 600-760 DEG C. in a decarburizing atmosphere such as consisting by volume of 3-20% H2 with the rest N2, to reduce the C content to below 0.01%. For additionally denitriding, an atmosphere consisting by volume of more than 70% H2 with the rest N2 is used, with steam being introduced to accelerate the reaction.
