Abstract
A steel alloy for producing spiral seam-welded tubes and of the following composition:- .C.0.17-0.23% .Si.0.20-0.70% .Mn.0.80-1.60% .V.0.02-0.15% .Al.0.02-0.10% Fe and impurities as balance, is heated to at least 1150 DEG C., rolled hot into sheets or strips, cooled by quenching in water from the final rolling temperature of 800-950 DEG C. to a temperature 600-721 DEG C. and further cooled in air. Preferably the sheets or strips are cooled to 680 DEG C. or less before being bent into tubes.
