Abstract
1,261,945. Grain-orientated silicon steel. KOBE STEEL Ltd. April 21, 1969 [April 24, 1968], No.20279/69. Headings C7A and C7U Steel containing 0À01% 0À1% of carbon, 2-4% of silicon and additionally at least one of: - Al 0À01-0À07% Ti 0À01-0À2 Zt 0À01-0À3 Ta 0À05-0À5 optionally together with 0À001-0À1% V but the total of these elements not exceeding 0À5% is hot rolled and cold rolled, and before the final recrystallisation anneal is heated at 450-750C. in a nitriding atmosphere to form the nitride of the additional element. If necessary the steel may be decarburized prior to the annealing step, and possibly also between first and second cold-rolling stages. Nitriding may be affected in cracked ammonia or pure nitrogen, while the final anneal may be carried out in hydrogen at 1150C.
