Abstract

1441390 Metal heating furnaces BRITISH STEEL CORP 9 Nov 1973 [10 Nov 1972] 52047/72 Heading F4B A heating furnace for metal workpieces has a plurality of heat sources 12a, 22a, 16a and skid rails 26. Associated with the skid rails are electric induction heating means for applying heat to the under surfaces of the workpieces additional to the heat sources. This additional electrical heating means may be in the form of a soaking hearth 16 with the induction heaters 28 in alignment with the skid rails 26 or alternatively the induction heaters may be positioned adjacent or form part of the skid system itself.
