Abstract

151,788. Watkinson, A., and Beckett, Laycock, & Watkinson. Aug. 13, 1919. Vehicle windows; window holders for sliding sashes.-The trailing edge of sliding windows, of the kind in which the sliding element such as a sheet of glass is not provided with a frame, is provided with a sash member 15, Fig. 1, having a lip 17 which engages with a weather-rail 18, and the guides of the window are so formed that they are yielding and preferably resilient to allow the engagement and disengagement of the lip and weather-rail when the window is operated by a strap 19. The guides are preferably constructed as described in Specification 14688/14, and are secured only at or near their ends. Spring-pressed pads 30, Fig. 2, may be fitted to hold the window and are connected to a bar 31, which is operated bv a handle to release the window and is provided with a lug 33 which engages the sash member so as to release the lip 17 by the same movement. The weather-rail may be loosely mounted in the sill and pressed towards the window by a spring.
