Abstract

151,601. Robinson, G. H. Sept. 27, 1919, [Convention date]. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and rubber cushions.-Between the outer rigid ring 1 and the inner ring 8 are placed cushions 3, each of which comprises an outer flexible band part 7 and an inner resilient part 8. The cushions may be formed by winding fabric 7, Fig. 2, under pressure on a square mandrel, partially vulcanizing it, deforming it to a diamond shape, Fig. 3, inserting a soft rubber part 8, which may be under pressure, and completing the vulcanization. The cushions are attached to the outer and inner rings by adjustable bolts 9 and plates 15 which are preferably so adjusted that when the outer and inner rings are concentric, the cushions are square. The cushions may be formed of circular or other shape.
