161,860. Runyan, A. L. May 27, 1920. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and rubber-ring cushions.-The resilient part of a spring wheels comprises an inner rigid channel ring 17 carrying a resilient cushion 11, an outer tyre-carrying rim 6, and a two-part inwardly flanged ring 18 pressed within the rim, the dimensions of the ring 17 being such that it can be pressed on to the periphery 10 of the wheel. The resilient cushion is formed of two similarly shaped parts A with projections 13, staggered pyramidal recesses 12, and beads 15, 16 for engaging in recesses in the rigid rings, and, before assembly, the inner part B is turned inside out. The two parts are cemented or vulcanized together and fabric or like strips 14 are attached to the sides.
