Moulding wheel tyres. -- A cushion tyre is formed from a straight length 1 with oblique ends 2 which are caused to adhere by hammering the lapped joint. The annulus thus formed is then assembled in a twopart mould 4-4 the plugs 5, by which the spaced apertures 1<1> are produced, causing the rubber to be displaced so that the joint assumes a sinuous form, as shown in Fig. 4. The tyre finally vulcanized under pressure.
