Abstract

Direct air and gas pressure apparatus, automatic.-Liquid such as fuel for an internalcombustion engine is raised from a main tank 1 to another chamber 3 (e.g. a carburettor float chamber) by means of an impulse-producing device such as a piston 7 reciprocated in a cylinder 6. The variations of pressure thus produced are communicated through a pipe 5 to a chamber 4. Fuel is thus drawn into the chamber 4 through a pipe 21 and driven out to the float chamber 3 through a valve 15 and pipe 16. If, however, the quantity of liquid in the chamber 4 exceeds a certain amount, a float 30 therein opens a valve 29 leading to the atmosphere or to an air space and the pumping effect of the impulses is destroyed. A by-pass may be arranged from the chamber 4 to its inlet 20 with an adjustable check valve.
