Abstract

169,857. Gibbin, A. W. July 19, 1920. Pumping-machines and fan apparatus.-A pump for conveying fuel from the tank to the carburettor of an internal-combustion engine has a turbine wheel a with vanes b driven from the exhaust or the induction manifold; the wheel also has inclined vanes c to draw the fuel into a chamber d with baffles e from which it passes by gravity to. the carburettor through the outlet f. A pipe g is provided for priming and an overflow pipe h returns surplus fuel to the tank. The Provisional Specification states that the pump wheel with the vanes c may be provided with an air screw to render the device suitable for use on an aeroplane.
