Abstract

151,111. Triumph Cycle Co., and Middleton, E. C. June 26, 1919. Securing sleeves on shafts; clutches, friction.- In shock-absorbing means for connecting to a driven shaft A of a motor-cycle &c. an cuter driving-sleeve such as the sleeve C which is driven by a clutch F from a sprocket D, inclines on part screw-threads C', are formed on the sleeve C and are engaged by a coupling-disk B engaging splines A<2> on the shaft A, which disk is pressed aside when excessive load occurs against the pressure of a spring J bearing against a collar K abutting on the shaft A. The clutch spring H bears against a disk X, which in turn transmits pressure to the clutch presser plate E, and either against the sleeve C or against the disk B, in which case the clutch is tightened when the disk B is pressed back.
