Abstract
1505145 Building concrete bridges K KOSS 7 March 1975 [12 March 1974] 9622/75 Heading E1G A concrete bridge deck is cast in sections in formwork casings 44, supported by supports 9, 10 movable along a girder 1 which carries three main supports 2, 3 and 4, is vertically-extensible, and can be moved along the girder also. Auxiliary supports 6 and 7 are also provided, and are e.g. to support the girder from a previously-cast section 16 above a pier whilst the casings, and the main supports 2 and 3 are moved outwardly from the pier to cast two adjacent sections, e.g. (17) and (18) (Fig. 2, not shown). The girder is also supported on the cast bridge portion 22 by the third main support 4. Each main support has a parallelogram linkage (Figs. 26, 27 not shown) in plan to allow roller bearings (36) to be aligned with the girder on curved bridge portions, together with a laterally-movable support therefor (26) incorporating a vertically-extensible piston - and - cylinder device and arranged in a guideway in member 28. The girder is supported above each pier by a further support 5 which comprises braced tubes temporarily fixed to main support 2. The deck formwork 44 is pivotable about one edge to allow movement past piers, e.g. and guide tracks 46 for converting equipment can also be provided on the girder 1.
