Abstract

In order to place the prefabricated girders of a bridge onto the supporting piers a temporary structure consisting of a braced girder(1) attached to fixed supports(12) is used. Two secondary supports(2, 2') can slide along the brace girder(1) and then be fixed to the bridge piers. A bogie(11) which runs on rails on the braced girder(1) is used to transport the bridge girder to the required position and lower it into place. The secondary supports are mounted on guides which enable them to move sideways to facilitate the placing of bridge girders when the bridge roadway is curved. The braced girder(1) can be moved to the position for placing the next bridge girder by sliding on the secondary supports(2).
