Abstract

The industrialised building system utilises a substructural frame of steel sections with bolted connections, incorporating monosymmetric 'I' section beams of which the bottom flange has a greater width than the top flange. Thje beams provide end support for precast reinforced concrete floor panels of a rectangular trough section, the panels having bevelled closed ends which sit on the bottom flanges of the steel beams. The top flanges are thickened to meet structural requirements during construction, and a channel section service cable duct may be placed in the in situ concrete by the top flange. The beams may cantilever beyond external columns, and certain panels may be notched to fit column details.
