Abstract
The single storey building unit is fabricated from standard lightweight wall panels (16) which act with a substructural steel frame in the structural function. The unit is partic. useful for deployment in combinations to build educational establishments e.g. primary schools. Vertical tie bars (60) through the panels (16) connect to a ring beam (3) below and an eaves beam (67) overhead. The beam (67) spans posts at panel multiple intervals and which support doubly overhanging transverse roof beams. The beams are of an 'I' section and their webs are nominally curved to promote falls to the eaves from the longitudinal centre line. The beams cantilever beyond the posts to support a continuous canopy, and the canopy roof surface also falls towards the eaves line. Roof drain spouts may pass through the centres of the hollow section posts. The wall panels (16) may be in two basic forms incorporating glazing or doorways.
