Abstract

1,100,039. Shuttering for casting bridges. M. FIORETTO. 26, Oct, 1965 [31, Dec, 1964], No. 45374/65. Heading E1S. Shuttering for casting bridges comprises a frame extending forwardly from the completed span to overhang the next pier on which it is supported by jacks, the overhanging part being counterbalanced by the part on the completed span and has a working surface and cover 1<SP>1</SP>for weather protection. Longitudinal mcmlbems 2 of the frame are connected by members 3 supporting the working surface and cove 1<SP>1</SP>.The bottom 9 of the mould is formed of two parts pivoted to the frame at 9<SP>1</SP>each consisting of two parts pivoted together at 9". These parts hang vertically when the shuttering is moved forward on rollers. Mould parts 5 normally kept in chambers 4 are lowered by winches 11 into position for casting a bridge span and held in position by members 15 suspended from the members 2. Skips 16 for concrete are carried along rails 7 on members 6 adapted to be pivoted out of the way when necessary. The cast span is hardened by steam in closed chambers formed by closing down flaps forming hand rails for catwalks 10 and opposite mating flaps.
