Abstract

1,186,816. Shuttering. G. LAMBERTINI. 7 Oct., 1968 [10 Oct., 1967; 31 July, 1968], No. 47467/68. Heading E1S. Shuttering for tapered concrete structures, e.g. bridge piers, comprises formwork portions 28 which are arranged to be moved towards or away from each other automatically in synchronism with the raising of the shuttering. The structure may comprise converging piers 21, as shown, moulded in forms of a fixed size, or alternatively may be a single, upwardly tapered pier, moulded between two U-shaped, open-ended forms (Figs. 1-5, not shown) interconnected by planar side forms. As shown, hydraulic lifting devices are connected to cylinders 35 (Fig. 9) which drive carriages 24, which carry the forms 22, apart along bearers 23 via a lever 34, a chain drive 31, 32, screw spindles 29 and brackets 130 fixed to the bearers. A similar transmission is used in the embodiment of Figs. 1-5 to move the U-shaped form portions 2 relative to the planar side forms 3.
