Abstract

150,061. Adams, A. S. May 26, 1919. Columns; girders and beams.- A beam or upright consists of a box-like flange-member B, Fig. 2, of rectangular, triangular, or other shape in section, open down one side to receive a box-like webmember A which is slidden longitudinally into the member B and is flanged as shown to interlock therewith and strut the interior. Bolt holes D are provided in the flanges so that slabs may be secured to the uprights as described in Specification 150,590; holes A<2> are provided in the web to key with a cement facing; and holes, A<3> permit the passage of pipes and wires. Tongues E<1> may be bent out to secure a lath and plaster wall to the upright. A casting comprising a block F, Fig. 3, and base-plate F<1> is fitted as a base to the lower end of the upright. For stronger beams, the web member consists of two plates J, J<1>, Fig. 4, flanged to overlap at the top and bottom as shown, and a box member K is slidden on to the top and bottom. A filling- piece and seating block L, Fig. 5, is provided for the end.
