Abstract

516,312. Beam centering supports. GREEN, B. July 9, 1938, No. 20363. [Class 20 (ii)] Joists, stanchions and like members 1 are en cased in concrete by means of temporary wooden shuttering which is supported by bolts 4 passed througl the shuttering and having their ends screwed into substantially flap plates o r clips 6 arranged to overlap or otherwise engage the flanges of the joists or like members. Each plate 6 is provided witt a screw-threaded hole tc receive the end of the bolt 4 and it is either bent or formed with a shaped underface for suitably engaging a flange of the joist; alternatively, the underface of the plate 6 may be flat and hardwood packing pieces used between the plate and the flange. In another construction, each edge of one flange of a joist may be engaged by a plate clip and a single bolt may pass through both these plate clips and the shuttering. In the case of a stanchion which is completely enclosed by shuttering, concrete packing blocks may be arranged between the flanges of the stanchion and the adjacent shuttering. The bolts may be greased or surrounded with cardboard or other material to facilitate withdrawal.
