Abstract
863,640. Girders &c. GSTOTTNER, H. March 18, 1957 [March 19, 1956], No. 8856/57. Class 20(4) In the manufacture of a tension boom for a ferro-concrete beam or girder structure, a channel shaped casing is supported as shown in Fig. 6a so as to be upwardly cambered, reinforcing means M is introduced rectilinearly and the casing is filled with concrete which is allowed to harden. The structure is such that when the boom is supported at its ends alone as in Fig. 6b it bends under its own weight sufficiently to remove the camber so that the boom is straight but the reinforcement has a curve opposite to the original camber. The upper edges B of the casing A, Figs. 1 and 2, may be bent inwards, and the reinforcing means M may consist of rods C. The concrete in the casing is also used to anchor stirrups D which may be separate as shown or formed as a continuous zig-zag. The boom may be used to support coffered ceiling slabs F, Fig. 1, concrete ribs G being formed in situ. In a lattice girder construction, Fig. 4, two channels A are connected together by stirrups D. In a self-supporting railing construction, Fig. 5, railing bars J are anchored at their ends into the concrete core of a tension boom.
