Abstract
124,275. Wallis, T., and Sexton, J. W. B. March 20, 1918. Poultry houses.-A slab building (chicken house, pigsty, &c.) is formed of reinforced concrete slabs of uniform size and having the abutting edges bevelled as shown in Fig. 3<a> to include an angle of 90 degrees. The junctions of the slabs are secured by angle iron brackets b and bolts so that the building can be extended, when desired, to a multiple of the original size. For a large building without internal walls, the roof slabs h, Fig. 3, are supported by beams e of the same thickness as the slabs; the beams rest on vertical members f, Fig. 3a, and are secured thereto and to the wall slabs by brackets g and bolts. The roof slabs are also of uniform size and are formed with grooves to fit the wall slabs and with interengaging rabbeted edges i. The bottom edges of the wall slabs fit into pyramidal blocks l, Fig. 4. The slabs may be reinforced with ribbed steel sheets or otherwise, and mav have openings for entrance and exit or to receive wire mesh or other fillings.
