Abstract

520,049. Walls. HURDEN, E. Oct. 17, 1938, No. 30036. [Class 20 (iv)] A double wall comprises inner and outer walls A, B formed of asbestos-cement sheets bolted or otherwise fastened together, one or both of these walls being recessed at intervals to provide a series of hollows within the double wall; the spaces may be wholly or partially filled with concrete, sand, or other material C. The two walls are secured together and to metal purlins F, Fig. 1, by bolts D engaging clips E on the purlins. The outer wall structure A may be formed with large recesses J, and the other structure B may have smaller recesses H; or both walls A, B may have similar registering recesses ; or the inner wall sheets B may be flat. Metal distance-pieces may be provided between the two walls at the recesses so as to increase the wall thickness. In another form, Fig. 6, the supporting structure may be disposed between .the sheets A, B. This structure may be a T-bar M disposed at the joint, or a channel-iron N disposed between joints. The sheets may overlap at the horizontal and vertical joints. A smooth finish may be produced at the recessed portions of the sheets by means of cement P. Specifications 152,173 and 246;949, [both in Class 20 (iv)], are referred to.
