Abstract

1481727 Carding apparatus H HERGETH [trading as HERGETH KG MASCHINENFABRIK UND APPARATEBAU] 23 Aug 1974 [25 Aug 1973] 37039/74 Heading DIN A carding apparatus comprises a series of toothed cylinders 4, 5, 6 etc the tooth lengths becoming progressively shorter in the direction of fibre movement from one cylinder to the next while the peripheral speed of the cylinders increases in this direction, worker rollers 11, 12, 13 etc being provided at opposite sides of the series of cylinders, each cooperating with a successive pair of such cylinders. Fig. 3 shows the arrangement of a suitable belt drive system which provides a speed ratio between successive cylinders of 1¢ to 2 times. As shown in Fig. 8 the cylinders are supported by bearing plates adjustably mounted on blocks which are bolted together to form the machine framework.
