Abstract
147,935. Signal Ges. May 8, 1915, [Convention date]. Subaqueous audible signals.-A transmitter or receiver comprises adjacent masses 3, 4, such as the field and armature of an electro-magnet, elastically connected by pairs of concentric tubes 5, 8 united at their outer ends; or the inner members 5 of each pair may be a red. The cross-sections of the elastic members 5, 8 are designed so that the forces brought into play during vibration are the same at all points of their length, and the air-gap between the masses 3, 4 is made so small that it is impossible tb set up vibrations of an amplitude in excess of what the elastic members can safely bear. Damping means may be provided between the masses 3, 4; in the case of receivers, a microphone may serve this purpose.
