Detecting subaqueous sounds.-A receiving-device for subaqueous sound signals comprises a receiving diaphragm a abutting on the water, coupled with a detecting- device which is itself an acoustic oscillatory structure. consisting of two masses m1, m2 connected together by an elastic member e arranged in a plane parallel with the receiving diaphragm. The diaphragm a can be tuned to the same frequency as the detecting-device. The amplitude transformation is reciprocally proportional to the masses m1 and m2. The nodal points in the diaphragm e shift towards the mass m1 in the vicinity of the crosses shown. The invention is applicable to microphones and electro-magnetic detecting-devices. In the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the elastic member e is described as a spring or bow. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
